
Sin City has long been referred to as a place of cheap thrills, with a fiberglass pyramid and a stucco sphinx it’s hard to imagine why, but despite this moniker, people tend to spend a lot of money when they visit Vegas.
Las Vegas used to be the land of cheap buffets and free lounge acts. But now, everywhere you go it seems like you are having to pay a cover charge or choose between five star entrees that cost an arm and a leg.
Despite the fact that prices for shows are climbing and hotel rooms and flights are far from cheap, there are still things to do in Las Vegas without spending a lot of money.
So if one of your New Years Resolutions is to spend less money, look into some of these cheaper than cheap thrills that Sin City has to offer.
Antique Auto Museum
If you’re a fan of classic autos you might be interested in the Sunbelt Classic and Antique Auto Museum.
Plus, the museum opens at 6 am on weekdays so it offers something to fill your time that isn’t nightlife.
Piano Competitions
Although the piano might not be the first thing you think of when you think Sin City, Vegas is definitely known for its live music.
Check out the Piano Bar at Harrah’s Las Vegas at around 9 each night for some competitive and free music.
Vegas History
Not only does Vegas have a colorful present, but its past is a rich story with the ups and downs of the entertainment industry.
If you’re a history buff you might enjoy the Las Vegas City Hall historic walking tour, displaying items such as Mayor Oscar Goodman bobbleheads and a 1923 city budget.
